Hyundai Grand i10

The petrol engine on the Grand i10 is the tried and tested and it returns a good figure of 12km/l under normal driving conditions.
The all new Hyundai Grand i10 model series has been launched with both petrol and diesel engine based variants, which churn out a healthy mileage. This is one of the most important aspects of any car and this hatchback series certainly has a good mileage within the city limits as well as on the highways. The mileage of the petrol engine based trims is being said to be about 18.90kmpl, while the diesel variants return a whooping 24kmpl of mileage , when driven under standard conditions.
The power produced by the diesel and petrol engines is good on paper and even in the real world.
The petrol engine based versions are equipped with a 1.2-litre based Kappa mill. This petrol motor has a VTVT (variable timing valve train) and can displace 1197cc . The prevalent engine is producing a peak power of 82bhp at 6000rpm in combination with a maximum torque yield of 114Nm at 4000rpm, which is rather good. On the other hand, the 1.1-litre 3-cylinder U2 diesel engine can generate 1120cc along with a peak power output of 70bhp at 4000rpm in combination with a 160Nm at 1500 to 2750rpm, which will be perfectly suited for the Indian driving conditions.
The acceleration produced by the Grand i10 is good as well.
Hyundai Grand i10 model series comes with a peppy 1.1-litre diesel mill and also a performance packed 1.2-litre Kappa petrol power train. The petrol engine is the same sporting i10 and i20, so there is no pick-up problem if at least driven within the city, however on highways, it gets a little jerky or rather say it loses the confidence on high RPMs. The diesel version with its 1.1-litre diesel is decent when it comes to pulling, though this too can create the problem on high RPMs
The Hyundai Grand i10 model series is custom made for the requirements of the Indian roads. The exterior design of the Grand i10 looks to be a mixture of stylishness and practicality. The company is targeting those buyers, who would want something a little better than the Hyundai i10 hatchback, which can come in a affordable price range, which is of the Hyundai i20 model series. The Hyundai Grand i10 does get some lustrous designing cues from the other fluidic cars in the company's fleet. The company designers seem to have done a good job certainly to bring in some new design cues. The frontage of this hatchback series gets a sleek front radiator grille along with a single strip of chrome and the company's emblem affixed in the centre. The grille is flanked by a radiant head lamp cluster, which also has the side turn indicator in it. Below this is the body coloured bumper, which has a large air dam that helps in cooling the engine quickly. The air dam has been surrounded by a pair of bright round shaped fog lamps, which further enhances the visibility of the driver. Regarding the side profile, it is rather smooth and flowing with some character lines and fluidic design elements that will certainly make this vehicle look a lot different. There is a thick strip of body side molding, which will save this hatchback from any minor scratches of damage. The neatly carved out wheel arches seem to have been fitted with a newly designed set of alloy wheels for the top end versions, while the entry level and mid range trims have steel wheels, which are covered with tubeless radial tyres. The door handles as well as the external rear view mirrors are also of body color, while the door handles are pull type, the wing mirrors have been integrated with side turn blinkers that further add to the exterior design. We can only say that the Grand i10 model series will be a very practical, utility based hatchback, which will also have good space in it. The rear end is curvy and stylish with a bright tail lamp cluster, which makes it resembles the Hyundai i20 hatchback. The rear windscreen has also been integrated with a rear wash and wipe system along with a defogger. There is also a rear spoiler which has a centrally mounted stop lamp, which makes this hatchback look sporty. The roof gets a pair of stylish roof rails along with a compact antenna.

The handling of the Grand i10 is good for what purpose it has been built. There is a good amount of body roll, but it hasn’t been designed to be driven fast around a track and even on winding roads at speeds in three digits.
As far as this braking and handling segment is concerned, this hatchback series has been introduced with the conventional disc and drum braking system. The front wheels have been fitted with disc brakes, while the rear wheels have been equipped with drum brakes. Handling of the new Hyundai Grand i10 has gone better than the existing i10. This new model from Hyundai has gained a bit of weight that adds to the stability of this hatchback. This car seems to be stable till 100kmph, which is a good thing. Although, the company added some weight over the current i10 model, it remained light to handle. The electric power assisted steering system is very responsive, but feels a little heavy at the speed of 100kmph. As far as the safety aspects are concerned, this hatchback gets an anti lock braking system, dual front air bags for enhanced protection of the passengers and reflector lamps on the rear bumper.
